Phase I Elder Abuse and Neglect Initiative Grantees


On December 13, 2005 – The Board of Directors of the Archstone Foundation announced the approval of 19 grants under Phase I of the Elder Abuse and Neglect Initiative, totaling $3,665,496 over two years.


The Archstone Foundation is committed to investing $8 million over a five-year period with the goal of improving the quality and coordination of elder abuse and neglect services in California.  The Initiative is divided into two major phases.  Phase I (January 1, 2006 through January 1, 2008) supports education and training for professionals who are mandated reporters of elder abuse and neglect, the development of multidisciplinary teams throughout the state, the implementation of innovative projects, and research and systems analysis. 

 

Organizations awarded grants under Phase I of the Elder Abuse and Neglect Initiative include:

Multidisciplinary Teams

  • Area Agency on Aging Serving Napa and Solano Counties
  • City of Long Beach
  • County of San Bernardino Arrowhead Regional Medical Center
  • Elder Financial Protection Network
  • Institute on Aging
  • Riverside County Regional Medical Center

Innovative Projects

  • Council on Aging Silicon Valley
  • San Diego County District Attorney's Office
  • University of California, Irvine
  • University of Southern California
  • WISE Senior Services

Research

  • Judicial Council of California
  • University of California, Irvine

Grantee convening and technical support will be provided by the University of California, Irvine, and the Initiative-wide evaluation will be conducted by The Measurement Group.

 

Lessons learned in Phase I will help guide and inform Phase II (Years 3, 4, & 5).  A separate Request for Proposals (RFP) will be issued for Phase II in the Spring of 2007.
