Letter of Inquiry Requirements

The Foundation's Responsive Grantmaking process accepts unsolicited funding inquiries on an on-going basis.  Initial contact should be in the form of a letter of inquiry, no more than three pages (items 1-4), and include the following information:

 

  1. A brief description of the program and its rationale;
  2. A statement of the program's goals and objectives;
  3. A brief description of the population to be served;
  4. A description of the evaluation activities and desired outcomes;
  5. A preliminary budget (please use the Foundation's budget template); and
  6. A completed Letter of Inquiry Grant Application Coversheet (downloadable from the Foundation's website).

In addition, the following three items should be included with the letter of inquiry:

 

  1. A copy of the organization's tax exempt status letter;
  2. A copy of the organization's most recent IRS Form 990; and
  3. A copy of the organization's most recent audited financial statement.

*Faxed letters of inquiry will not be accepted.

Letter of Inquiry Review Process

Letters of inquiry are reviewed by program staff on a monthly basis.  After review of the letters, if the request falls within the funding priorities of the Foundation the organization will be invited to submit a full proposal for funding consideration.
