End-of-Life Initiative: Addressing Spiritual Care

The Board of Directors of the Archstone Foundation awarded $487,598 to the City of Hope to support a National Summit to improve the quality of spiritual care at the end of life. The grant was approved during the Board's quarterly meeting in September 2008 and is a component of the Foundation's End-of-Life Initiative.

This award was created in conjunction with the Gerontological Health Section of the American Public Health Association, and was established to recognize the best practice models in Gerontology and Geriatrics. Emphasis is given to innovative programs that have effectively linked academic theory with applied practice in the field of public health and aging. Meet this year's winner and honorable mentions and read about their programs. It is our hope that these model programs can be replicated in an effort to enhance services to the aging population throughout the United States.

Awarded California Senior Fall Prevention Projects
On April 28, 2006, the Board of Directors of Archstone Foundation announced the approval of 11 grants under the California Senior Fall Prevention Projects, totaling $364,822 over eighteen months.

Responsive Grantmaking Submission Deadline
Letters of Inquiry
The Foundation accepts unsolicited letters of inquiry through its Responsive Grantmaking strategy on an ongoing basis. In an effort to manage the Foundation's review of letters of inquiry, proposals submitted before the 15th of a given month will be reviewed during the following month.
