Archstone Foundation has joined several other California funders in responding to the federal government’s delay in payment of $1.1 billion in Medicaid funding, which includes the state’s In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) program. This delay harms our most vulnerable populations, including older adults, denying them the services that enable them to live safely in their communities.
Two Core Strategic Aims
Mobilizing Communities, Amplifying Voices
We are committed to increasing the visibility of older adults and helping build their leadership, advocacy skills, and civic engagement.
Building Adaptability of Organizations
Strengthening the ability of community-based organizations to adapt to emerging issues is essential to their success as advocates for older adults.

Reshaping Health and Social Care Systems to Ensure Equitable Aging
Three pillars help frame Archstone Foundation’s vision: aging, health equity, and social justice. Together, they help clarify the sectors we hope to work across, the partners we want to engage, and the narrative we believe is necessary to achieve lasting change for older adults. In this post, Foundation President and CEO Rigo Saborio describes these ideas at the center of our strategy.

Healthcare is critical piece of what people need to live safely and well in their community. Yet many of the biggest drivers of health outcomes—housing stability, nutrition, income supports, caregiving, and social services—sit outside the traditional health system. In this webinar, health professionals will learn about the social services landscape for older adults and people with disabilities in California, particularly those who receive healthcare through publicly funded systems such as Medi-Cal and Medicare.
OUR GUIDING VALUES
Justice, Equity, Diversity, & Inclusion
Archstone Foundation’s mission is to improve health and social care of all older adults in California by partnering with communities to catalyze equitable systems change. At the heart of our work is a commitment to justice, diversity, equity, and inclusion. This guides our mission, shapes our partnerships, and drives our collaborative efforts to foster meaningful change in the communities we serve.
